On October 15, the traditional Santa Teresa Fair and the Sheep Fair will be held once again, which has been held in Ripoll since 1843. An exhibition that brings the visitor closer to the agricultural and livestock activity, especially the cattle of the Ripollesa sheep breed.

From 9 in the morning on pg. Sant Joan will have the traditional breakfast of products derived from lamb. Then at 9.30 am on Passeig Mestre Guich and in the Plaça de l’Escorxador in Ripoll you can see the sample of about thirty-five sheep farms, primarily of Ripollese breed, from the region but also from other areas of Catalonia. While the jury, made up of veterinarians and ranchers, among others, will score the best pig, batch of sheep, batch of lambs and the best animal at the sheep fair. Once again, there will be a competition to guess the weight of a lamb, which is very popular with the visiting public, with the well-deserved reward of the lamb itself for guessing the weight of the animal.

The program for this year’s edition highlights the display of tools and equipment for livestock that will take place on Passeig Sant Joan. Composed of establishments and services in Ripollès and Osona, it can be found in vehicles suitable for livestock work, livestock equipment, tools, etc.

Throughout the day, in the center of the town (Plaça Sant Eudald, Plaça Gran, Plaça de la Lira and Carrer Jacint Verdaguer), there will be a fair of handicraft products, prioritizing products related to lamb and livestock and others of traditional market.

COVID restrictions

This year, however, the fair will be in a smaller format, respecting the protocols of the Covid-19 of non-sedentary markets but maintaining the essence of this, which is sheep and farmers, true protagonists of the Fair on the day of his day.
